Peace and quiet in an exceptional location
The Candide hotel-restaurant is located in the heart of the upper town of Saint-Bertrand-de-Comminges, at the foot of the famous Sainte-Marie Cathedral. This small village of 250 inhabitants is a must-see tourist and historical stop in Haute-Garonne, in the heart of the central Pyrenees, 1 hour from Toulouse and 30 minutes from Tarbes.
Our 15 rooms, each sleeping 2 to 4 people, located on the first and second floors, welcome you in an authentic, simple, and elegant setting. For your comfort, we will escort you to your room and take your luggage up. Pets are welcome within reason.
Our hotel is not accessible to people with reduced mobility because we do not have an elevator (prefectural exemption). However, the restaurant is.
The restaurant on the ground floor offers a generous breakfast buffet in the morning, as well as catering at lunch and dinner, all exclusively homemade and made mainly from local products supplied through short supply chains. The menu focuses on regional cuisine. Southwestern, of course, but also far-flung, with a few exotic escapades to suit your mood. In fine weather, the restaurant opens its terrace in a very romantic setting.

The towns of Saint-Bertrand-de-Comminges and Valcabrère have become iconic tourist destinations. As such, they have been awarded the Grands Sites label of the Occitanie Pyrénées Méditerranée Region , the Remarkable Heritage Sites label, and the Most Beautiful Villages of France label. They are also listed as UNESCO World Heritage Sites for the Routes of Santiago de Compostela.
Saint-Bertrand-de-Comminges or 2000 years of a tumultuous history successively written by the Convenes and the Romans, then by the Visigoths and the Franks... From the great city of the Western Roman Empire and the radiant bishopric of the Middle Ages, a remarkable archaeological and architectural heritage and many mysteries remain! At the foot of the imposing cathedral, which looks like a fortified castle, the ruins of the forum, the ancient theater and the early Christian church are spread out. Very close to Saint-Bertrand, the peaceful basilica of Saint-Just de Valcabrère seems nestled in a Tuscan setting.

A generous homemade buffet featuring local produce.
In addition to the essential bread, butter and jam, you will find homemade brioche, homemade spread, delicious homemade granola, homemade yogurts, fresh fruit salad, Serrano ham from our Spanish neighbors, cheese from the farm next door and finally delicious apple juice from the orchard next door as well.
